Hello Jim,

Wallace Forman's book "B-24 Nose Art Name Directory" lists "BLACKIE'S BASTARDS" as B-24 42-52288 assigned to the 489th Bomb Group/846th Bomb Squadron and he also indicates that he did not have a photo of this nose art.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Good evening, Jim, and WELCOME to the Site! In response to your query,n you are looking for a Ford Willow Run built B-24H-10-FO, 42-52288, 489 BG,846 BS, c/n 831/1019.  I have not yet located a pic, but as yet have not visited the b24bestweb.com to review their pix. Keep checking back here for updates. Also is there ANY other information, i.e., a person's name, a specific event, or anything else that would help the Membership with some details for you? Let us know!

Best Regards!

This is the first plane of Lt. James W. Blackburn.  He was killed June 25, 1944 on a mission with the 489th BG, 486BS, over Villacoublay France in a plane called SNAFU.
I was excited to find a photo of SNAFU in www.b24bestweb.com but would be ecstatic to find a photo or any history of Blackie's Bastards.  Again I am most greatful for any and all help.
