Information on B-24D " Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ",343THBS. Aug 1, 1943.

Yes, according to the MACR it went down about an hour after leaving the target.  At about 38 20N, 19 40E flames were seen coming out the waist windows of ship.    The plane then exploded in 4 separate burning masses and went down.   Notations on the fold3.com pictures seem to imply it was lost earlier.

There were at least three Snow Whites in the 343rd Sq, 98th Group in WW II
 
The first was  S/N 41-11913 lost May 1 1943 crashed into sea.
Second was S/N 42-40364 shot down over Bulgaria 1 Aug. 1943.
Third was a J model in Italy. I do not know the S/N  NOR does the nose art, artist who is still with us.
 
The one shot down over Bulgaria was piloted by James Gunn. one crewman got out and survived. all other crew were killed. I am in contact with the son of the Bulgarian pilot that is credited with Snow White 42-40364. The Bulgarian pilot later became the Chief Air Marshall of the Bulgarian AF.
