Looking for info on a Capt. Lou Zaris

Hello, I'm looking for information on a Lou Zaris.  I have a copy of a letter from Capt. Zaris in 1948 to my Great Grandmother writing about her son, my Great Uncle Jack D. Patzke.  They were both in Stalag Luft III together.  He writes about how Mr. Zaris had a boxing class as means of recreation and that my Great Uncle liked to box.  While there both became friends.

If anybody has any info on Lou Zaris please let me know thanks.

Lee D. McGinnis

15th AAF 99th BG 347th SQ

Stalag Luft III, remains found 1949
Listed death 4/8/45

Louis Zaris was the bombardier on B-24 42-52195. (MACR 4632).   It was from the 449th BG, 759th BS on a mission to Turin Italy on 25 April 44.  His plane collided with another B-24 about 20  km  sw of Siena, Italy.  4 of the crew manged to bail out.  They hooked up with a group of men trying to make it back to allied lines. Zaris managed to evade for a while but was eventually captured.  He had suffered a back injury in the crash and had trouble keeping up.  (One crewman, , Ball Turret Gunner Earl R Welsh did evade). Zaris was eventually sent to Sagan.  Zaris has a description of the crash and capture in the MACR.  I will try to post it here once I get it downloaded and sized.

Hello, I am Capt Lou Zaris' youngest daughter. I can't believe i even found this site. My father passed away 22 years ago. I would love to see anything he wrote. I'm not sure how this site works. Please contact me. thank you, Lori Zaris-Goldman
