Hello

My father was a piolt in WW2, 8th AF, 714 Bomb squad; 448 Group. That is most of what I found from his Military docs. His name is/was Dee L. Johnson Jr.
If you could direct me that would be great.
Anyway I would love to hear about anything related to this or see pictures on anything about that crew. I have a son and I would like to tell him about his grandfather, he never got to see him.
Thank you, plese feel free to email me anytime.
I have posted the pictures on this site and named the heading
 "8th Air Force, 448 BombGroup 714 squadron"

Bruce, a place to start  on the pictures is right here.  At the top, click on the link for " Photo Galleries ".  You can start your own gallery there, and post his pics.  You may also want to start a free account on a place like PhotoBucket.

Anyone genuinely interested in the 448th Bomb Group must access the following:

Brett, Jeffrey E. The 448th Bomb Group(H): Liberators over Germany in World War II. Atglen, Pennsylvania: Schiffer Publishing, 2002. ISBN 0-7643-1464-5

This is the most definitive resource, I own.  However, I could find no further mention of your Dad and the crew which I listed, other than it does appear all survived the war.

The airmen which I listed were assigned as an entire crew at that date.
I am certain this crew, or any other crew for that matter, did not remain intact throughout it's missions.

    Thanks donall,
I just purchased the book from Amazon. I had read about the very same book the other day that it was said to be a very nice book on the B24. I appreciate you help.
Yes he did make it through all sorties. I have no idea who was with him. He stayed with the Army Air Corp after the war, but my uncle said he wasnt the same. I dont know he seemed fine to me.
     Thanks Bruce

One of our on site members, "tlcopp", has compiled a majority of the 448th's Mission Reports.

If you review this information dated beyond his being assigned to the 448th, you will be able to find your Dad on some crew lists.  These may indicate his participation and assignment on various missions.  This may be somewhat time consuming, but I believe it will be very rewarding.

The first mission I found for the "Blanck Crew" was 04MAY44 and the first listing for "DLJ / Copilot" was 06JUNE44.

I sent Burce an email I found them flying on May 7,8,9,11,31 and June 1.     I was amazed that it looked like they were flying every day.   My grandfather who did not get there untill Aug 44 really only flew about  twice a week for the most part.
