2/8/1944 Mission #67 Kimbolton 525th Squadron 42-29633

My dad,Staff Sergeant George Lissandrello's plane was shot down over France. His plane was seen hit by enemy fighters. Received a direct hit in the #2 engine and the left horizontal stabilizer was shot off. It went into a slow spiral, hit the ground and exploded. Five chutes were seen. Bobb Ross, Dean Tate,William Lessig, John Bernier and David Helsel all evaded capture. Doris Beam, Eugene Gallagher, George Fotonakes, Robert Kelly and my dad , all who went down with the plane were taken prisoner. My dad was in stalag iv in Pomerania. On 2/6/1945, the prisoners were evacuated and marched until 4/26/1945, when they were liberated by the Americans.
