Lyle A. Stewart - any info?

My father was Lyle Alton Stewart.  I know he served with the 460th because I have his leather jacket with name badge and Panther patch, all in leather, and other items.

He would never talk about his service, and I am just curious if anyone out there remembers him, or knows any information about his service years.  The one thing he did mention is that he was a 'Ball-Gunner', and he received a Purple Heart for being shot in the posterior region, he joked about that once in a while, and he talked about Italy a little bit.

He returned home safely, met my mother and had one child.  Studied Architecture at USC in Pasadena - my home town.  Became a successful City Planner on the West Coast, and moved to Oregon in 1966.  Never could quit working, but "semi-retired" to Lincoln City on the Northern Oregon Coast in the early 90's - my mom still lives there.

I signed him up for the 460th Bomb Group Ass'n. in 1998 - just ran across the membership card, but he was not interested in any contact apparently - he gave me the pins back right before he passed away in 2000.  His member number is 358-762.

I just want to know a little bit about his service years, so that I may honor his memory more fully, as he declined to talk about that time.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this -
