Mather Field Yearbook

I have a yearbook circa 1942/43 from Mather Field (Sacramento, CA) Army Air Forces West Coast Training Center. LOts of pictures and names. Pilots, cadets, navigators, bombadiers, instructors, etc. Not sure of the best way to share this information. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I am building a website dedicated to bombardiers (be glad when I can say it's up and running). Anyway I'd be interested in knowing what you have about bombardiers. When you have an opportunity can you give me a rundown on what you have? Do you have the ability to scan?

I was wrong in my original post. No bombadieres in this yearbook. Pilots cadets and navigators make up a majority of the book. I apologize for the mistake.

I am bring this back from the past to see if I can find any information on a  pilot that trained at Mather Field in 1942. His name is Walter F Woodruff. I hope you still own the book and maybe have a photo..? Any other info would be helpful as well.

Yes......go to www.aafcollection.info and the webmaster Mike will assist you in getting the book scanned and downloaded to his 'free' site.  He's posted many class books and other relevant manuals, photo's, etc., for USAAF material.  There is no charge to contribute material, visit or download any of the material on the site.

Your book would be a great addition to the expanding site.  I look fwd to lookin through the book once it gets posted.

    Hi larry,

I actually do not own the book Glenn the person who first posted does. The good news is that I was able to contact him and he has kindly offered to loan the book to me.

I can suggest the website to Glenn and see if he is willing to get the info to the webmaster.

    Thanks!

    Hey GP,

I am doing some family research for a friend, and this particular subject includes her Great Uncle, Vernon Otis Elmore.  He enlisted in 1942, and served until 1969.  I believe that he may have retired in 1969 as a Colonel.

I found an index number for an aviation incident report online and it mentions him being in the USAAF:
    ELMORE, VERNON OTIS     O-434090
and that there was an aviation incident report filed while he was on Mather Field Class 42A class roster.  Half of the family says he wasn't even in the military, and the other has stories of him in the military.  Since you have the 1942-43 yearbook for Mather Airfield, I wanted to ask if you might look to see if he is in there.

Many thanks for your time and efforts,
    Richard Martin

    Hi, and regards from Spokane.
I am doing research on my father's service during WWII.  His name was Leonard G. Richardson.  He was posted to Mather Field for navigation school.  He was there from Jan. 22 until late May.  Echelon 31.
I would very much like to know if the book you have contains any photos of my father.  I would also be very interested to know if there are any photos included that show what Mather Field looked like at that time, and what the schools, grounds, and classrooms looked like.
Any information is welcome, and thanks for making your post.
    Regards,

    Bob
