Hi guys, I'm very new to this computing game and stumbled by chance on both site and subject. Lt Pabichs' R/O George Solomos is a dear friend of mine for the past 15 yrs or so living in south_east London. I have alerted him to your site and will leave him to tell his story. Maybe i'll get a bit of peace now as he's  been itching to find you guys ever since I first met him!! Keep up the good work, these guys should never be forgotten.

My father was the top turret gunner on that aircraft! I am trying to find anyone still alive on his crew. He always told me as a kid how he hid out in farms and barns in france after being shot down, and was discovered one time by a nazi-youth platoon whos leader was all of 14-15 and who drew down on my father with his rifle while my dad was hiding in a hay loft and said to his fellow germans " no americans up here" and let my dad go. Dad finally got with the french underground and made his way back to england and home. PLEASE let me know if you know any of the crew members still living! gorrono1955@yahoo.com

Hi All,

Sorry to pull an old thread out of retirement, but does anyone know how this aircraft was brought down?

Thanks,

Mark

PS - Apparently there's a 385th BG navigator's diary in pdf format here:

If I can push my luck, can anyone confirm if the 385th was in action over Frankfurt, or did it attack targets of opportunity somewhere else (and if so, where)?

Thanks again,

Mark

I decided to Google my husbands father Philip A. Capo and came across this site. My husband and I had only heard a brief description of the events of Feb. 8, 1944 from my late mother in law, but there were no other details. Thank you to Mike Gorrono for explaining what actually happened. Philip passed away in 1976, but we happen to have a picture of the entire crew and some had even signed it. I have attached the photo here. Let me know if you would like me to email the photo to any of you directly.

Does anyone know the name of their plane?  My grandfather--Edward Carey-- was the Navigator.
