According to several sources, TSgt Ortis L. Quaal was from Roberts County South Dakota. They identify V Bomber Command, Headquarters Squadron as unit assigned

He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and Purple Heart. He is officially MIA. His cause of death was “FOD” dated 11191945.

Require unit Quaal was assigned and/or type of aircraft he was a crew member.

    Appreciate any assistance.

    Happy to help, Robersabel.

Sadly the findagrave record appears to be lacking for Ortis Leo Quaal. From baptism records available from Ancestry.com T/Sgt Quaal was born 19 February 1917 to Elma and Martin Quaal. Baptism 25 March 1917, at Lake City, South Dakota, Zion Lutheran church, New Effington, South Dakota; record attached

Hope this additional data helps complete your T/Sgt Quaal file.
