    Hello,
    My my,
I never expected that type of responds by replying to the remarks raised in posts 10 and 11.
My reason was just to remind members that earlier on the old forum there were many items regarding this Fighter Group that were discussed , including the white/coloured paperwork rules as were described WW2 era.

Post 13 got us back on the right trail.

May I say that members on the old forum responded without name calling or swearing at remarks made by any other member no matter what the discussion was.

Today however sadly it seems the norm to name call and swear even used by polititions and seems to be accepted by all without questioning its political or personal correctness .

I will return at some time in the future only if a specific subject awakens my interest

    Hello
    Airwar you are quite right.
    My misreading of the letter.
"White, Ferried H. 301st Killed in 42-103952 when his plane crashed a mile northeast of Ramitelli shortly after take off "
    Followed in next para by
    "John W. Squires -100 - 28/6/45
Killed in the crash of P-51D 44-14501 near Torre del Lago"

Thanks for correction, have now edited previous post

    Hello,
    Again I misread the para

James COLEMAN 100 - June 5 ground looped 42-103912. On June 7 he crashed in 43-23103 at Catollica and was killed.

    It should be -
" The records also reveal the sad story of James Coleman of the 100th FS. On June 5, he ground-looped P-51C 42-103912. On June 7, he crashed and wrote off P-51D 44-63532 in a landing accident. Then on June 15, he crashed P-51C 43-23103 at Catollica and was killted in the ensuing explosion. In the official records, his entire impact on the Group consisted of wrecking aircraft."
I note that 43-23103 is not that given in the post above by Airwar, the Data link has the a/c serial as 43-25103. Maybe an original typo error by Chris and then repeated by me ?
