Where is the identification plate on the P-47?
You can look for yourself on this link.
There is a radio call sign plate on the instrument panel (center left, just below the compass). It has the plane serial number on it. The data plate is on the right sidewall about outboard of the pilots right shoulder. In this example it appear to be slightly hidden by a yellow pipe or tube, but it is there.
The odd thing about this is that the plate on the instrument panel appears to show the number 45-49192.
This list seems to show that number belonging to Clare Aviation, and the plane in the National Museum as 45-49167, so not sure why.
Thanks Rolland !
The position of the data plate:
So you are referring to a part number plate for a hydraulic cylinder that operates the landing gear door, not the serial number plate for the entire aircraft.
Separate names with a comma.
