(lcogginz)

Well, I actually made unexpected progress today, and found that Gene Hatley was killed when his B-24, "Ho Hum" #42-109983, exploded shortly after takeoff on 4/8/45. This is documented in Wiley Woods' history of the 90th. This was Lt. Honsal's plane.

So, what I'm curious about now is whether anyone out there remembers this or knows if any of the survivors are still around? In the meantime, I have sent off for Gene's records.

And Scott, thanks for the advice!

Lauren

RE: Help w/ Info. on 400th KIA named Hatley? (lcogginz)

I'm looking for info. on my great-uncle, Corporal William G. "Gene" Hatley, who served in the 400th Bomb Squadron, 90th Bomber Group. He is listed as having been killed 4/8/1945, and I'm looking for any information regarding the name of his plane, crew names, flight records, etc. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of his death and I am looking on behalf of his sister, my grandmother. I know his ID number but that's about it right now.

Can anyone help steer me the right way? Thanks very much for any and all suggestions! Best--

Lauren
