I was looking for any information people might have about my second uncle Ivan L. Schraeder and his unit. I believe he was a tail gunner. He was shot down once over Belgium and through the help of the French Underground made his way to Portugal and reenlisted. He was shot down a second time, this time over Italy on April 20th, 1945. Unfortunately he did not survive this time. The ABMC lists him as a Staff Sergeant in the 49th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group. Thanks much.
