B-17F 42-30120 has donald duck with a pitch-fork as the nose art. It was 95th bg 334th BS in 1943 out of Horham. My grandfather was the navigator on it on many occasions.

Go find a book titled DISNEY DONS DOG TAGS...a good start to your search.

A very good reference! Nose art searches will show a/c carrying the Disney inspired work in virtually all theaters.

I think you have transposed the S/N of Pluto it should be 41-23715.
The 98th had a squadron known as The Snow White and Seven Dwarfs sq. the 343rd Bomb Sq. their policy was If an airplane transferred out, the name stayed in the Sq. Sleepy went to another Sq. and was named The Squaw, Grumpy became Hail Columbia as was others. The artist that painted the Snow White series is still with us at 94 years old. He skydived with his son and grand son on his 93rd.

I have videos of some of these B-24s taking off, inflight and landing in the desert before the Tidal Wave mission. There were three different "Snow Whites". Two were lost (one on the Ploesti low Level raid of 1 Aug. 1943). The 343rd has just recently been reactivated with B-52s at Barksdale AFB, LA.

There was a B-17 that served in the Pacific with Pluto art. I think it was on the right side of the nose, with his nose toward the front of the plane and a leash painted leading back to the cockpit. According to one site, this art was actually painted on the plane by a Disney artist before it went overseas.

I just came across a picture of ' Pluto " a B-24 , # 4132715 assigned to the 98th BG, 345thBS stationed in North Africa. How many Heavy Bombers displayed Walt Disney inspired character images ,or named the aircraft after a Disney character during World WAR II . I am sure there were several .
