Terence, Thanks for the info! Yes, the plane is a San Diego (CO) built B-24M-10-CO and referenced in The B-24 LIBERATOR by Al Blue (Appendix L, p.211). Using scrap (recovered) parts from other planes is not uncommon in restoration as we are using parts from different Libs for our B-24E Yankee Air Museum display piece which is in its early stages of fabrication. From all appearances, A72-176 looks as if she will be a beauty when finally finished!

Aussie B-24 --
A72-176 44-41956 B-24M-10-CO ? ? Served with 7 OTU East Sale. G/Capt Kingwell's aircraft. Last flown Mascot-East Sale 22 March 1946 by F/O Ed Crabtree. Became Instructional Airframe No.5.Fuselage extant today as basis for static restoration programme. Quoted disposal date ex-East Sale 23 March 1948. Under Restoration Werribee VIC. Parts of B-24D USAF 42-41091 was receovered from PNG and used as part of this restoration project.

Thanks, Phil.... My assumption would be that it is going to be a static display, but I've been known to be wrong before. The pix are great! Do you have any other info as to S/N, which Liberator Production Pool Plant from which it originated, etc.?

Steve, not sure whether this aircraft will fly or just be placed on static display. I'll try to find out!
