The man held my Uncle in his arms as he asked for his wife's photo and asked him to let his wife know his last thoughts were of her. For the next 50 years he has searched for her. Our newspaper did a story on D Day and he was interviewed for it. The man remembered his friend was from PA. and hoped someone might read it. He used a nick name my Uncle was know by.

I called the reporter and he put me in touch with the man who now lived in Virginia. I mentioned my Aunt Betty to him. He immediately he said, "Oh that is what Don always called her and in his death "his beloved Betty". In a few days after calling my Aunt the man and Aunt Betty made contact. She was so happy and blessed to know her husband did not die alone, he died being held by Mr. Lipisiki the man who searched for her for 50 years.

I was able to enter my Uncle Don in the World War Veterans Site for my Aunt. She was so happy and after all these years had peace concerning her beloved husbands' death.

I am posting Sgt. Donald Weisel's photo.
Re:Looking for answers (timothyguinn)

Thank you all so much! Vern Bryson. MACR 8745. To the best of my knowledge, in the case of a take-off accident, or one where the wreckage was readily accessible ( to the point of being photographed ), no MACR would be written up, instead it would be an accident report, since the crew would not have been missing.

The info we have from the letter report above, and evidently the MACR, is that the aircraft went missing over the Adriatic, with no known witnesses as to what happened to it, and I would suppose was never found.
Re:Looking for answers (timothyguinn)

WOW! Isaac L. Isbell. So far in the research that I have collected I know that he was the gunner in the 829th Bombardment Squadron, 485th Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force. My grandmother told me what little she knew of what happened to him 5 years ago when I myself joined the U.S. Air Force. His crew unfortunately paid the ultimate sacrifice on 9/21/1944 and they have a headstone at Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetary in St. Louis. I also know that on that day the 829th was flying it's 65th mission in Yogoslavia, which is where my grandmother said they went down, so im assuming this information is correct. This unfortunately is where the information stops flowing, and so I am basically looking for any information on what aircraft they flew, Tail Number, Name of the Aircraft and of course what happened to them on that fatefull day. Below is a list of SGt. Isbell's crew members.

Anderson William E
