Monica, if there is any doubt over where he is buried etc you should request a copy of his IDPF individual deceased persons file. See detail how to on the research help tab on the top most part off this forum. It will take some time to get the file but well worth it. And please when you do get it can you report back here with any aircraft details included as requested by the original poster.

The two links below provide some information including a photo of his gravestone at Fort Scott National Cemetery. The member (Group Burials) who started this thread says that he has a copy of the mission report. Send him a message through our Private Message service and ask if he will share it with you. Randy is an active participant in this forum, does a tremendous amount of work in this area and has always been very helpful.
To use the PM system, first log in, then put your curser on his screen name and click on 'send a private message' in the drop down list. Make sure you refer to this thread so he knows what you're talking about.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping someone can help me. I am the great-niece of 2ndLt Robert G (G for George, his father, not C) Bladorn. My family and I have questions regarding his death. Several aviation record websites state that his death occured in a P-40 during a landing with mechanical failures. However, the family was told the account mentioned in this thread. I'm not sure about the group burial either. My family was under the impression that Uncle Bob's body was never recovered. Where can I find official reports that detail this mission and exactly what happened? Any help is greatly appreciated by the family of 2ndLt Robert G Bladorn! - Monica

Roster of the Dead WWII = These three showed temporary burial site El Alia Cemetery, Algiers, Algeria, then later reclocated by Administrative Decision to Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
Powell, Charlie D, 2nd.Lt.
Price, Charles W., 2nd.Lt.
Bladorn, Robert G., 2nd.Lt

Roster of the Dead WWII

I wrote to the webmaster & asked him what circumstances these 5 were killed..

82FG/95FS site listed them as KFA - Killed in a flying accident

May 3, 1943.....2nd Lt. Robert C. Bladorn, *KFA
May 3, 1943.....2nd Lt. James D. Hamm, *KFA
May 3, 1943.....Capt. T. H. McArthur, *KFA
May 3, 1943.....1st Lt. C. D. Powell, *KFA
May 3, 1943.....2nd Lt. Charles W. Price, *KFA

Roster of the dead listed Powel as buried there by Adimistrative decsion
Hamm & McArthur were buried there by request of next of kin..
I have not checked on Price & Blandon.

No. All were flying P-38s, I have verified that and have the mission reports but just trying to find out the tail #'s of the planes they were flying. Thanks

Since that were all killed on the same date, but not neccessarly in four P-38's, perhaps a transport ?

Hello Randy, and Terry,

I looked in the Missions section of the Official 82nd Site.
and roughly from the 3rd May 43.
Capt McArthur led a flight of 25 P38's in support of the 320BG B26's on a sea sweep. The weather closed in.
11 P38's returned early.
Two flights went to the west coast of Sicily after leaving the bombers and returned safely to base.
Capt. McArthur and the others named in earlier post landed at a base (name ?) and later took off for their home base.
They crashed into the mountains. Ceiling was reported at approx 200 ft.

Crash Information (Group Burials)

I am researching a Group Burial consisting of 1Lt Charlie D Powell and 2Lt Charles W Price. Both pilots were lost on 3 May 1943 and are buried in the same grave at Ft Scott National Cemetery, Kansas. I find that a 2Lt Robert C Bladorn, 2Lt James D Hamm, and Capt T H McArthur were also lost on this mission. Would like to find the tail #'s of all five aircraft. I have the mission report but it does not mention the tail numbers and have been in contact with 82nd FG personnel with no success. Thanks in advance for any information.
