You are blessed to have loved ones who love you so very much to purchase your favorites for you.

RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (k9iua)

My entire family knows of my interest in WWII and things military: Let's see, my daughter bought me that airplane encyclopedia and earlier, for Christmas, gave me a DVD copy of the movie "Topgun." My older son several years ago bought me a VHS movie pair of "Pearl Harbor" (as in the 2001 movie), and my younger son bought me the DVD boxed set of "Band of Brothers" for Father's Day. And my wife bought me recently a DVD copy of the movie "Twelve O'Clock High." I guess they know of my interests.

Kevin Anderson
RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (PA.Dutchman)

You are a blessed man to have a daughter who purchases such a fine book for her fine father on his birthday.

Happy Birthday!

Congradulations on your daughters taste in books.
RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (PA.Dutchman)

I almost missed your daughter purchased this for you. What a wonderful gift and what a wonderful daughter to purchase a book like this for Dad.

You apparently did a fine job bringing up your young lady, she sounds like someone special.
RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (PA.Dutchman)

I agree and thank you for replying. It is always assuring when someone else has looked at the book and thinks it is a good book as well.

Thank you again taking the time to reply, I enjoy mine very much also. I greatly appreciate your taking the time to write.
RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (k9iua)

My daughter bought me a copy of "The Encyclopedia of World War Two Aircraft" a few weeks ago as a birthday present. I keep it next to the chair by the TV I most commonly watch, as I will often page through it then. Focuses primarily on the combat aircraft, but does include all major nationalities. Clearly shows its British influence in authorship, for example in the sampling of photographs of airplanes shown often being the UK variant. A decent book to have for the price.

Kevin Anderson

RE: The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (PA.Dutchman)

Borders has a store in our mall that was their own and not a Walden Store they took over. It is larger and has even more GREAT War World Two Combat Air Plane Books. I picked up.

1. The Encyclopedia of World War Two Aircraft.
I really like this one because it has several pages on the B-17. clearly giving all the versions and photos of them. It gives detail as to the changes and what they were. It shows the B-17 in various uses by various Air Forces during the war. Some really good information and it was only $9.99 and it is thick.

2. Campaigns of the World War Two Day by Day.
My father was in the Pacific with the 42 Sq., 11 BGH and it gives good information in this area of war. It was only $5.99.

3. Aircraft of War World Two in Combat
Great photos and illustrations of all the GREAT planes it was only $5.99

4. Atlas of World War Two
It has great maps and aids to understanding the locations of combat and the campaigns. Again my father was in the Pacific and it has all the Islands and their campaigns clearly indicated. It shows the locations of the Islands in relationship to each other and to Japan. It may have been $6.99

All these books have great color, illustrations and photos. They are paper back, but the covers have a heavier stock to them.

I just remember how much a good book with good illustrations could cost and all these were most reasonable. The book I first posted Aircraft Anatomy of World War Two was among them at Borders main store. A couple men posted how much they like this book and it too was also something less than $7.00.

The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders (PA.Dutchman)

I got the book The Great Book of Combat Aircraft at Borders/Walden on their special rack today for $9.99. Great Photos and great price.

Check the book out and prices else where and it is worth the $9.99 hardbound.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=the+great+book+of+combat+&x=15&y=24
