Did you ever get an answer to this? My Great-uncle (Robert A. Dempster, Jr.) was the second, or Co-pilot of Come Closer (and crew) along with Lt. Victor Petroff as of May 16, 1944. They were assigned to the Pistol Pakin Mamma (minus Petroff) May 28, 1944 with my Uncle as 1st pilot and William E. Chambers as Co-pilot. Pistol Pakin Mamma was hit and exploded over Marcus Isl. on September 11, 1944. 1 survivor, navigator, Richard M. Smith, captured, POW---The same day The Chambermaid crashed on Saipan. Trying to find out if the 38th Bomb Squadron crew of the B-24 "Come Closer": William Bernheim, pilot; Edard Kubin, co-pilot; Dan Lawrey, ball turrent; Arnold Musick, wait gunner; Bill Sparrow, ground crew--was placed on "Come Closer" BEFORE or AFTER Mel Harms was assigned to "Come Closer" when the B-24 "The Chambermaid" crashed.
