We have adopted one of the crewmembers who flew in this plane, his name is Dale R Estle. Unfortunally I can't provide you with a picture of the aircraft, but on our website there is picture of the crew witch flew with the A/C 42-95157, the Munroe crew. I hope somebody else can help you, and us too, in finding information about the aircraft. Don't know or you wan't to know the MACR information, but I will post it anyway: STATEMENT TAKEN AT INTERROGATION: A/C 449 (Pilot Archer}, 157 (Pilot Munroe), 597 (Pilot Suchiu), and 532 (Pilot Harrington), were hit by E/A between Meppel and the Zyder Zee, on the 15 of August 1944. A/C 449 (Archer) is reported to have exploded - 10 chutes see. 1 A/C is reported to have ditched successfully in the Zyder Zee. The other 2 A/C were reported to have been hit and were seen to crash on land. 3 chutes were observed from one and 6 chutes from another. There was no information from our air crews or from Division which could assist in determining which A/C crashed on land or ditched. Hope to learn more here about the crew and the aircraft, that would be great. Not only for us, but also for the family of Dale R Estle. Dennis

According to "Attlebridge Arsenal" 42-95157 was built at Willow Run. It was assigned to the 786th Squadron and has no known name. The rear fuselage code number was U8 the 786th identifier and code letter on the tail fin was "H". I assume that the 42 as prefex of the S/N denotes date of manufacture. (I could be wrong about that). This aircraft was flown at one time by the Milton E. Hinman crew who all completed a 33 mission tour July 44-Jan. 1945. The aircraft was lost 15 August 1944 after being shot down by ME-109's over Holland returning from a bombing mission at an airfield in Vetcha, Germany. The airplane was piloted by Verdun Munroe who had recently taken over the R.C. Greenwood crew. There were only 4 survivors. There is a photo of the Greenwood Crew in front of an unidentified aircraft in "Attlebridge Arsenal."

My Uncle Frank Kayden was KIA in the crash of B-24 SN 42-95157. Dennis and Jim Haseman have been a big help, but if anyone else has information on the plane, crew, mission or anything related, contact me. Thanks, Tom
