Michael Land Can I suggest that this photo was taken 10th October 1943 - inspecting the holes where  shells penetrated the cockpit and took the life Lt. Hal Minerich in such a grisly way on the 8th Oct Bremen mission. Pointing to the lower hole is T/Sgt Dean Carrier
