mission route

What target would have had Venice close enough to the mission route to be able to see the Great Canal and the big square with the Cathedral. The pilot of the main crew I am researching wrote a letter home dated July 7, 1944 stating they flew close enough to see the above. His previous letter home was dated June 29, 1944. Since he did not mention it in his first letter, my theory is the mission was between those 2 dates. I see on the mission lists for the 464 during that time frame both Munich and Blechhammer. Would either of these targets likely include flying near Venice? Looks like Munich might but I am not certain exactly where Blechhammer is. Can anyone shed some light? Will post same question on other 55th Bomber Wing threads. Thank you, Chuck.

May be mission 48 on Jul 6, 1944 Porto Marghera, Oil Storage ( Porto Marghera is near Venice, 1 or 2 miles). Alt. target Aviano, Italy.

Hello Chuck! Blechhamer is Blachwonia, Poland. It would seem to put it out of a possible route with an overflight of Venice. What about Porto Marghera, Italy. It was the target for July 6, 1944 and it's just a stone's throw from Venice.

Yes, I believe it was probably, certainly Porto Marghera. The date of the mission is consistent with when he wrote the letter and of course is right next to Venice. Thanks for the input everyone, including private message replies.
