In the current issue of AVIATION HISTORY (September 2008), there appears an article entitled Kamikaze Kismet by Bennett Richardson and Fumiko Hattori.  In it is the narrative of two "survivors" who, "through a combination of good piloting and sheer luck," managed to survive a kamikaze attack on Okinawa while being intercepted by a flight of three Vought F4U Corsairs from VMF-312. Reading the article gives one another picture of the "end-of-the-war" desperation of the Japanese to defend the homeland knowing that the end was probably near, and they were now more than outmatched in all aspects of warfare.  In reading the article, one can almost feel the futility and fear of these survivors.  It is worth a cursory glance for one who might want a quick picture of what this "divine wind" concept was about.  Best Regards!  Steven
