I am inquiring as to the 53rd FS. Where were they based? What planes? etc. I am also looking for information on Frederick D. Skeels (2nd Lt.) date of death of July 18, 1944. Thanks.

53rd FS was part of the 36th Fighter Group. It served in the European theater from May 44 through May 45.

The 36th FG are still having reunions the next one is Washington DC October
I can send you the Missing Air Crew report on Skeels which I have scanned.
I do the newsletter for the 36th FG and am working on a history.
What cemetery? would love to have he details.

The cemetery is in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and I believe it is Oaklawn? I will let you know for sure. Thanks and I look forward to the MACR. John
