The Savage Sky by T/Sgt. George Webster
Stackpole Books ISBN # 978-0-8117-3388-5
George Webster was a Radio Man in the 92d BG , 327th Sq.
He was a Member of the Lt. Rex Townsend Crew.
Lt. Townsend and 4 other Crewman were KIA flying as
Replacements.
Mr. Webster Bares His Sole in this story of a Frightened Young Man 
that had to resort to Drugs to keep Flying Missions ; which were easily
obtained from the Flight Surgeon.
His only Solace was an Affair with an Older British Woman.  
He was Wounded on his last Mission with Lt. Victor Trost Crew.
They were flying B - 17 # 42 - 97314 UX J  " POP " and after being
badly damaged by Fighters , Crash Landed in Bulltofta , Sweden.
This Book is well written with Photos and is a Painfully Honest description
of Combat and Life in England.
