The Silent Wings Museum, located at the Lubbock, TX International Airport, will commemorate the 64th Anniversary of D-Day with two days of events June 6-7, 2008. History will come alive as the Museum welcomes the World War II Airborne Demonstration Team and the U.S. 1st Infantry Division living history group.

Free Admission all day! Museum hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In remembrance of June 6, 1944, Silent Wings Museum will present the documentary D-Day Remembered every hour on the hour beginning at 10 a.m.

Children’s and family activities will be featured in the Hangar Gallery all day.

Experimental Aircraft Association Breakfast: 8 a.m.

Dedication of the C-47 on static display on museum grounds: 1 p.m.

Interactive Demonstrations by the World War II Airborne Demonstration Team: All day.

Interactive Demonstrations by the U.S. 1st Infantry Division living history group: All day.

Flights by the Airborne Demonstration Team: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. Fly on “Boogie Baby” with the Airborne Team! The C-47 named “Boogie Baby” is painted in D-Day colors and remains in its original parachute configuration, maintaining its separate radio and navigator compartments, as well as its parachute bench seating. Seats will be available to the general public for donation. Seating is limited and pre-Registration is available.

We liked Lubbock, TX so much we brought some of it back with us on Boogie Baby!  High winds in the area had stirred up extensive dust storms, leaving Boogie a bit on the dirty side!  Washing her up will be a good project for jump school!
