RAMP returing to the US

I've been trying to determine which ship my dad (Stalag Luft IV) was on when he was returned to the US.  He was in Camp Lucky Strike and from his 201 file I know he departed LeHavre on 15 June 1945 and arrived Newport News 20 June 1945.  I've checked the "http://troopships.pier90.org/1945.htm" and these dates don't correspond with any on the site.  Also, most crossings seem to have taken longer than 5 days.  Anybody out there with any ideas ?   I know the USS West Point made her final ETO trip sometime in June and is not in the database or could it have been a warship vice transport?  Just thinking of the quick transit time

Zed,The official records of ship arivals and departures carrying "Military Personnel" were ordered destroyed in 1951 for whatever reason by whomever.I have come across two different listings using a mickey search engine a long while back. One was in honer of the young mans father and was better than "Pier 90".(Thats not really a good one). The other was a good one, with departures and arrivals.BUT !!,I cant find eitherone of them now.I will try mickey again this weekend.

Zed,....Am still looking, found "Harry's log" former Navy Man on the USS West Point. The last "Magic Carpet" trip for said ship from the "ETO" was from La Harve to Boston on 11/28/45,then proceeded to the Pacific.Five days transit time was the norm for that type of  ship. They were fast,I know my DE could not keep up with it,neither could a U-Boat.

Zed: I'm trying to do the same thing, but my dad was in the Army, anyway, during my research I picked up some info that might be of interest to you. The USS General Henry W. Butler [AP-113] left Le Havre June 12,1945 with RAMPS including AAF personnel and arrived at New Port News[Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation] June 20,1945. Your departure date doesn't match, but it could be a typo. Hope it helps.

FYI - The only troop Ships that could make a 5 day Crossing were Ex - Liners like Queen Mary , Elizabeth etc.
Army , Navy troop ships a lot slower.
Have you tried SEAWEEDS Ship's Histories. Histories of all Naval , Army Transports.

My dad was a POW and came thru Lucky Strike on 31 May 45 and departed le Harve France on 6 June 45 on the USS Admiral Benson and arrived in NY City on 12 June 45.
Not exactly your dates, but close...... and shoots in the foot those who say only the QE could go that fast.
