Does anyone know the exact date the 415th left the US for North Africa in 1942?

If you are referring to the 415th NFS, the air echelon arrived at Monastir, Tunisia from training in England on July 3, 1943.
I have an audio recording of the squadron leader Timmons recounting the flight in 1978. My grand-uncle was Major Nathaniel Lindsay who had two kills with this squadron.

Willie Chapmans book "Booster McKeester" states they (the 415th Bomb Sq.) departed mid July 1942. There was a day or two delay from the exact date they were supposed to leave, for some reason. I don't have the exact day, at this momen, however possibly I might find it somewhere in my files. Of course the whole 98th Bomb group support personnel went by ship (Louie Pasteur) and arrived about the 25th of August.
British RAF maintenance personnel furnished ground support until 98th maintenance arrived. The 98th flew its first mission 1 August 42, exactly one year before the Low Level Ploesti Tidal Wave mission.

James,
According to my Uncle's diary entries, the B-24 he was on, 98th BG, 415th Sq., left Morrison Field, Florida, on July 20, 1942, and arrived at Ramat David, Palestine on July 31, 1942.
