[size 2]Hello all,
I am looking for the surviving crew members of a B-24 from the 454th BG. The B-24 was shot down on July 7th 1944 north of Blechhammer, and my friends have found the crash site. They retrieved many parts of the wreckage, including a part of an engine cylinder with the engine serial on it (which allowed positive identification) and an Aerial Dead Reckoning Computer Type E 6B.
B-24 serial: #42-99758
Nickname: The Beast
Unit: 736th BS, 454th BG
Pilot: Walter R. Wenger
Co-pilot: Robert O. Johnson
Navigator: Leonard R. Katz
Bombardier: George F. Sheehan
Radio-operator: Richard R. Hair (captured 12 days after the crash!)
Waist gunner: Billie D. Jantzen
Nose gunner: William J. Russell
Tail Gunner: Francisco J. Delgado (KIA)
Ball turrent gunner: Harold H. Storch (KIA)
Engineer: Edwin F. Kendrick
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
