Re:Add'l Info or pictures requested
Cris,
Only Lt. Ralls and three of his "usual" crew members were aboard the A/C , Borman, Mann and Salsgiver. I will have to dig into why and which was the "usual" crew that Lt. Thompson was in.
It is thought that Lt. Thompson was badly wounded and they put a parachute on him and pushed him out of the A/C in hopes the German's would take care of him. The A/C crashed into the North Sea and there were no survivors.
I do not know exactly what info you have. I have the mission report, Navigational report, etc, which I can send you via email. I also have a couple photos of "Casey Jones" taken inflight before they went down in my member photo album of the 94th BG on this site. The A/C in the rear center in two photos is their A/C. You can go to fold3.com and search 11 November 1943 for some higher resolution photos of the mission.
Send me a "private message" with your email address and I can send you documents.
Regards, Marc
