Information on my grandfather

I just stumbled across this site and I am amazed at how much information some of you have or have access to. My grandfather passed away recently just shy of 90 years old and so I have googling a bit to find out any more info that we may not have known. From the info I have, he was part of bomb group 327 and the tail number on his plane may have been 4230213. His last name is Maguire and I would love any info the group can find or to be pointed in the best direction to find stuff ...thank you in advance for any help.

(Edited the bomb group to 327..sorry)

From the documents I have that plane number was assigned to the 562nd squadron of the 388 BG. Do you happen to have a picture of your grandfather or his plane?
If so, you might want to try the 92nd BG page on Facebook.  http://www.facebook.com/groups/290301027652024/

No no pictures of the plane from what I have seen. The patchwork on his bomber jacket and other places though definitely matches the patch of the 327th.
Thanks for your help...where do you find that type of information?

Lots of time and patience doing research. And talking to guys that now more then me. That FB page I gave you the link for I'm an admin of, and several of our members are VERY knowledgeable, and one of the other admins is the official historian/archivist for the 92nd BG Memorial Association. I started my search for my great uncles history about 6-7 years ago here, and sometimes it can be really frustrating and maddening, but sometimes patience pays off. I've even managed to find 3 pictures of my great uncle and his crew that haven't seen the light of day for over 30 years.

Also, if you have his jacket, thats kind of the holy grail of momentos. I don't have a roster of crews, but if you have any more clues, we can sure try to help you out.

Welcome to the club. Some people go for years before they can find anything. Its just a matter of timing and luck and running into the right people who can be a great help pointing you in the right direction.

Matt...A small suggetion...at the very top of this page, is a listing with the very end on the right, where it will say "92nd BG-Podington)"...
Please click on that, and look  in the next window  that will  appear for the 92nd BG Association..when you click on that, it will bring up the 92nd BG Associaion access...search for photos of crews etc.
