The use of B-24 and B-17 Assembly ships which were used more often ?

In Feb ,1944 the 2nd Division authorized the use of weary veteran aircraft  deemed  unfit for operational flying .All were specially fitted to aid in the assembly of individual groups in preparation for their missions .These aircraft became known as " Judas Goats ": A Judas Goat " is a trained goat used in a slaughter house to lead sheep to slaughter.The first allocation of assembly ships were B-24s retired from the 44th , 93rd and 389th bomb groups.
Their were four B-17s used as assembly ships with the 303rd , 379th and 384th bomb groups.  The B-24 groups using Assembly ships I  have tracked down so far are ;
448thBG - 4 aircraft.
458thBG - 4 aircraft.
466thBG - 2 aircraft .
467thBG - 2 aircraft.
489thBG  - 1 aircraft.
491stBG.  - 3 aircraft.
492thBG  - 1 aircraft.
I would like to find out how often these aircraft were actually used in helping groups establish formations. It seems that B-17 groups did not use these aircraft as much as the B-24 groups based on the number of assembly ships actually deployed. Additional information and corrections welcomed.

    Ernie,  An interesting query and maybe a difficult one to track (given your helpful start).  I had just posted another couple of pix relative to "war wearies" and "Assembly Ships" on the following Thread:  http://forum.armyairforces.com/Criteria-for-declaring-an-Aircraft-Battle-Weary-m219166.aspx,  but need to find the specific link to the "Assembly Ship" Thread which I had quoted as I don't recall any comparison of numbers there, for what it's worth....   Hopefully someone  will jump on here, but  jpeter140 and I have referenced both "hacks" and "assembly ships" in the link cited, so maybe this will bring up some new data from the Membership.  Good hunting!

    Best Regards!

    Lucky Gordon, a war-weary B-24D was painted with black and orange vertical stripes and was the 445th's assembly ship.

    Hi,
          I have this book and it's very colourful and useful, but might lack the greater detail you are looking for.....http://www.amazon.com/Assembly-Mighty-Eighth-Robert-Jackiewicz/dp/8392491416/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334752390&sr=8-1-fkmr2

    The 384th BG had an old white B-17 with blue polka dots which was nicknamed the 'Spotted Cow' - I know it was used as a weather ship (a veteran pilot told me he'd flown it) , but it might have also been used as a formation/assembly ship at some point - which would explain its gaudy paint work.
