Re:Notables who served in WWII
I would like to ask if any of you with the ability to research and write a book would consider undertaking a long under acknowledged group of our "Greatest Generation". I contacted Dr. Larry Sabato, historian and author regarding this. He acknowledged it was an idea with merit but, he had his hands full with current projects.
I think a book written about the "Female Greatest Generation" has merit and would appeal to many WWII history buffs. They are all but extinct now. But, what a contribution Jo Stafford, The Andrew Sisters, "The Mouth" Martha Raye, Vera Lynn, Frances Langford, Ann Miller and many, many other stars made to support our troops. And let us not forget the great contingent of "Rosy the Riveters" that contributed so much. Singling out some of them would be well deserved.
I would love to do this but, have neither the talent or resources. In my opinion, such a book would also be another tribute to the many millions that sacrificed so much because these women were acknowledging that sacrifice.
