Help  by specialists:
Lt. Alexander, Richard Lear "Dixie"  Former RCAF and 4th FG Eagle, 52 FG.
Crashed 30 May 1944 nr Enns, Austria.
Can you please find out, if his crashed plane had specific markings outside on the plane surface?
Or markings for this plane in the flight book?
Is there a foto by chance?
Positive answers would help identifying his crash site.
Thx for your interest

Re:Lt. Alexander
Guten tag Roland,
In book Spitfires and Yellow Taillied Mustangs there are two fotos of Alexanders Mustang one a profile foto. I am sorry I dont have the means to forward said foto to you, but there are members in this forum that have the book and means to forward a foto as per your request.  He was a member of the 2nd FS 52nd Fg. The plane was named "Chappie" and "Dixie MK XS" it was coded QP-A.  It appears from small foto crash was not violent. I will search for crash info. Tough book for searches, index does not concur with pages.

Re:Lt. Alexander
Roland,
"Dixie" was on an escort mission to Wels, Austria. He was last seen by his wingman, Lt Fred Ohr chasing an enemy aircraft up the Danube River between Amstettin and Linz.  What happened was later explained in his book " They Call Me Dixie". In the final moments Dixie shot down the ME-109, but as he pulled up his engine suddenly sputtered and dropped. Since he was so low he had no choice other than to belly land into a small clearing. As he jumped out of his aircraft he could smell gasoline and then saw five bullet holes along the cowling and figured the fuel line was nicked. Before he had a chance to set the charge to destroy his plane , German troops arrived and he was taken prisoner.

Re:Lt. Alexander
Hi Yunch,
your appr.  mail with info out of your sources and my sources have solved the problem, I think !!
See my attachment and the code the Germans mention there = KU report.
This matter was by far easier than your connex to Aschach or Aschbach and its confusions.
Things can change quickly......
I put a note on general Fighter Forum

Re:Lt. Alexander
Roland,
We can wait a few days for a member reply of fotos of plane. If there is no responce to request, I will make copies from book and mail them to you. After all you have done for me, this is the least I can do. You will get those photos and even a couple of Dixie one with Sully Varnell, another ace. Keep me in the loop as to your needs in this search.
