I believe A/C 42-31799 was assigned to the 527th BS on 02/07/1944. According to most documents I have it was never assigned a permanent crew and went missing on 3/02/1944. I show A/C# 42-31799 had no official Nose Art. But I have found that many airmen named their craft for the day whether it had a name or not. Many Airmen never got an aircraft assignment on a permanent basis because they were reserve personnel. They were assigned what ever was available but many told me they had a name or a good luck procedure anyway. In the 379th BG 1/4 of the personnel an aircraft were held in a reserve capacity during 1944 & by 1945 the old crew to one Aircraft procedure was passe'. Sad Sack is near the bottom.
