Third photo shows LIBERTY RUN, a long lived A/C of the 305th BG. So christened, aledgedly, by its first crew because of their likely for the very title....be it London or the lesser lights of Rushden, Higham Ferrers or further afield into Northampton. Ian

Fourth image is of THUNDERMUG. Picture shows Lt. Brian Gunderson, later Brig Gen Gunderson in the postwar USAF (also editor of AFA NEWS), being presented with a copy of a wax disc recording, made by the BBC during a radio interview Gunderson made. This was transmitted to the home front, and is eleived to have been later tranmitted via he AFN network. A nice play on a British institution, the chamber pot most readily used in the early 19th century and certainly a staple necessity in WW2. It was often a practice by many airmen, not just those at te 305th BG, to carry contents of such items and drop them over Germany. Many such stories come up time after time, espcially of can's full of P*** and other waste products being ceremonially ejected out of B-17's, and B-24's, in the hope of hitting Hitler on his way home in his open top Mercedes....!!! Finally, pride of the 305th Bomb Group. Our highest mission tally B-17, G model, OLE ISS DESTRY. Photo doesnt do great justice to the artwork, which has the name DESTRY in red script across a four leaf clover. 'Destry' flew a recorded 138 missions, one of a small select lub within the whole USAAF which attained such a high score. Crew beneath is that of Lt. Wilton Amo, being welcomed back once again by their ground crew. Ian
