Thunderbolts operating within the ETO were directed to display the
U.S. national insignia on both wing under-surfaces.

Were P-47's operating within the MTO subjected to a similar directive?

Reason I'm asking is that in my research I've come across (MTO) photos
of this aircraft type with-&-without the insignia under the left wing.

If there was an official memo circulated I'd sure like to know about it.
