Husband's Uncle
-

To any body who can help with any info. My husband's uncle Sgt Paul Bertram was a tail gunner in a B-24 Heavy and bailed out over Budapest,Hungry on July 27, 1944 and was a POW in Stalag 4 and Stalag 1. He was liberated by the Russians on May 2, 1945 from Stalage 1. What I am looking for is the MACR. The pilot's name was John Parish, co-pilot was George Braugh and the navigator was John Brinle. I also need to know the name of the plane. The picture of the crew I have shows just a few letters and not the whole name. After looking at some nose art, the lettering matches The Reddy Teddy Too, but I am not sure. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Sandy

Hi Sandy, The MACR No. is 7527 (455th BG, 742nd BS). The aircraft was B-24J S/N 42-50497, and may have been called "Star Dust II" or "Starduster II" (no picture that I am aware of, but I'll double check). I think I have a photo of Parish, but it may not be with 42-50497. Also, I have the copilot's last name as "Baugh." Crews often flew different planes during their time at San Giovanni Field, so it probably is a photo of Reddy Teddy Too. Regards, Dave
