A-26 / B-25 .50 Cal Nose Guns

I have a question regarding the 8 .50 cal nose gun configurations for both the A-26 Invader and the B-25 Mitchell. When the guns were fired, did the empty shell cases and links get ejected from the bottom of the nose and into the slipstream, or were they collected on board the aircraft and emptied later? I have noticed some slots in the bottom of the noses of A-26s, but don't see any in the B-25. If anyone could provide some clarification, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks. Ron

Ron.. In talks with the 3rd Attack Group guys, their answer is that the 3rd's B-25's, A-20's and A-26's dumped the spent shells/links overboard. Bill

Thanks Bill. I was pretty sure the empty cases and links had to be ejected, but just wanted to confirm it. It doesn't look like there would have been much room to store the empty cases and links. Thanks. Ron
