North American P-51D, LC-D of Pilot Colonel Robert Montgomery, 79th FS, 20th FG, King's Cliffe. This squadron received their P-51's on 29th July 1944. Colonel Montgomery became Group CO early in 1945.

Ratch,
GUMPY was assigned to the 77th FS not the 79th. Col Montgomery joined the 77th at Hamilton Fld in 1940 and became the squadron CO then the Group CO
