RE: Luftwaffe Aces - 02/02/2008 07:30:42 AM
Ltn. Maetzke that had a B-17 credit also on that day. His was Bremen 8.000 m  12:20 and Loos' credit was DS: 8.500 m. (Bremen area) 12:04.

Could someone tell me where my mistake was in posting this information.  I thought it was the correct time/place and I would rather not make the same mistake again.

Hi @ all,
I am really amazed by this forum. @ ShooShoobaby my Grandpa was Gerhard Loos, we have a lots of Photos of his funeral, it was a so called "Reichtrauertag" with over 20.000 people participating. I tried to contact you by Mail or PM but I have very personal information that I would like to tell you about this. My father never saw Gerhard Loos he died before my father was born, so pls reply to me by mail or here in the Forum. I am very interested in every Information and in your Film, in order to gather as much information about my grandpa as possible.

I will prove my identity to you, so you can be sure i am not some kind of paparazzi.

To bring some light into that my grandpa was shot directly  into his back, damaging the parachute, it doeasn´t open properly and he hits the high tension wires, so he dropped the chute and fell onto a potatoefield. He was alive at this time, but died when arriving in the hospital.

@ Topic Starter, I can provide you a Photo of him, Im thinking the Photo that was postet to be my grandpa isn´t right, but i will check this and post a 100% right one.

Thanks and best regards to all here you do a very nice job helping all these people.

@ Erich: Hast du eventuell meinen Opa gekannt, entschuldigung wenn ich so direkt frage, aber dein letzter Post hier hat sich so angehört als hättest du direkten Kontakt gehabt?

Hello Christopher -
This is amazing! Several Years ago , Dad got a letter from Luftwaffe Pilot
Hans Ludicke. He was Gerhard's Advanced Flight Instructor and good Friend
of he and his wife. Dad wrote back and told him what happened.
I will PM you and include my Email address.
Regards ,
Michael Howell

Thank you so much shooshoobaby this is great !!!

Christopher -
I don't know if Dad still has the letter from Hans. I will look.
I believe he lived in Gottingen. He was in touch with Gerhard's
Wife at the time Circa 2000 - 2001.

That would be so great,

and i have to correct me, there is one aunt of mine she raised my father after his parents died. She was with them all the time in the war. So if hans was a good friend of my grandpa and -ma there is a possibility that they know each other. It would be pretty nice if hans would still be alive. I hope it so much.

Thanks for all the help Shooshoobaby I will try to find out if hans lived or lives in Gottingen.

So here is a Photo of Gerhard Loos, taken on a celebration in his hometown Seestadl near of Komotau for gaining the "Ritterkreuz" on Feb 20.1944 only a few days before his death on March 06.1944. I have also some newspaper reports about earning the Ritterkreuz, providing some backround information.

And another one, taken on the same day. It is one of the photos that were used in the Newspaper, but I have the original. So I think the Photo posted @ the beginning of the thread isnt right at all.

Hi Guys,

here is another one, but this time I am interrested in the guy to the left. Its a man called Roland second name unknown, he was the mechanic for my grandpas plane. My father said he must be living in munich but until we have a second name we cant find him. So if anyone can get some infos about him that would be nice.

Thx a lot to all people here.

@AL Check your mail I will try to find out what happend to your dad and how my grandpa was involved

Edit: The man to  the left is propably not a mechanic he is obviosly wearing an Army uniform and appears to be a recipient of the infantry assault badge. Propably it is a friend of my Grandpa out of its hometown in Seestadl where the foto was taken
