information on Lt col Montgomery - 08/21/2007 04:26:48 PM
I look for information about Lt Colonel Montgomery. His plane crashed near Arras on 11st februaury 1944.
What was the mission, did he escape and return england or POW. What has been his career during the war.
I look for a good quality photo too

Assigned Aug. 1940--77FS.  Sqdn. Eng. Officer (77th) to April 1941.  Detached service to RAF (UK) April--July 1941.
Flight Cmdr. (77) July 1941--Feb. 1942.  Sqdn. Ops. Officer (77) to July 1942.
Sqdn. c/o (77) Aug. 1 1942--Nov. 11 1943. Group Exec. to Feb 11 1944.
MIA  Feb 11 1944 flying with White flight 79FS; 8 pilots lost. Returned June 16 evading through Spain (returned with Lt. Harry Bisher 55FS shot down March 4 ). Returned to active duty Sept. 21 1944.
Group Ops Officer Sept. 21 1944 --Nov. 8 1944. Deputy group c/o Nov. 9 --Dec. 14 1944.
Group c/o Dec. 15 1944 after Col. Harold Rau.
 
Combat hours  274.55.        Claims 3.33 air. 3 ground (destroyed).   Damaged 2 air, 2 ground.
Decorations  Air Medal 8 clusters, Purple Heart, DFC 1 cluster, Silver Star, DSC, Croix de Guerre with Palm.
 
Lost on VIII FC F/O 240 , 20th FG mission no. 20. Target cover-withdrawal support to 1BD  B-17s to Frankfurt.
Montgomery led 48 P-38s , take-off 1002. RV bombers 1145, left them at Neuchateau 1235, then strafed targets but bounced by Me.109s. All his flight were lost plus 5 others (2 killed ).

What information are you looking for and for what purpose. 
 
I have his complete service file and a large file of photos on him.
 
I also have his flight logbook.
