My father was radar observer aboard the P61 called Jing-Bow Joy-Ride, attached to the 426th NFS in the CBI. He left a detailed memoir that includes a tremendous amount of information regarding his service tour. He and pilot Carl Absmeier were a high-scoring team for the 426th, with two air-to-air victories and a number of successful intruder missions. They also collaborated in the destruction of the Yellow River Bridge, a strategic target, even though they had orders to return home in their pockets. This memoir is now posted in its entirety online at www.nightfighter.info. We invite anyone interested in this fascinating period of history to visit the site. We are still working out kinks, and would appreciate an email if anything is not working well. The site is best viewed on any browser *other* than Netscape, which tends to forget to autosize the photos. Thanks for your interest, and happy trails!
