My father was radar observer aboard the P61 called Jing-Bow Joy-Ride, attached to the 426th NFS in the CBI. He left a detailed memoir that includes a tremendous amount of information regarding his service tour. He and pilot Carl Absmeier were a high-scoring team for the 426th, with two air-to-air victories and a number of successful intruder missions. They also collaborated in the destruction of the Yellow River Bridge, a strategic target, even though they had orders to return home in their pockets.
