Yuma Army Air Field - 04/25/2006 03:27:31 PM
Attahing a picture of a patch I wore proudly most likely aroun 1942/43.  My cousin was attending gunnery school and sent one to me.  I wore it constantly.

Wondering if anyone out there was ever stationed there as well.

Side note to Bob Gilbert:  This is where Frank went and wondering if you did as well. (Jerry)

No Jerry, I went to Las Vegas AAFB.  Our flying gunnery was at the Indian Springs gunnery range outside of Vegas.

If you were in Yuma you probably went to Cretin's bar and restaurant...been there since War 2 and still has a LOT of the old squadron and aircraft information for folks that came through Yuma.

A restaurant critic said, Cretin's is where God goes when he want's Mexican food.

Yummy place and full of memorabilia.

Gunnery school was actually the second use of Yuma AAF.  It was first a 2-engine advance school.  My uncle did his advanced pilot training there with Class 43-G, graduating and being commissioned on July 28, 1943.  I have the class "yearbook".

My father in law John Miller nicknamed "Tiny" from Chicago trained there as a gunner also late '43 to early '44.
