Hi, I'm Warren's nephew Jim. I'm trying to research his war service. My uncle joined the RCAF in 1940 and transferred to the USAAF in 1942. I believe he flew P-47s out of Duxford in 1943 with the 84th FS of the 78 FG. Any info, leads, ect. would be helpful. Thanks ...

Hi, I e-mailed Wally as you suggested. He came up with my uncle's RCAF service #. So now my question is...How do you guys find all this stuff? Where is it at? You replied in a matter of hours and told me more than I'd been able to find in a week. ???

Jimmy - You should request his Personnel Records. Is there a next of Kin that can sign the Request? Go to www.nara.gov In most requested Box , Click on Service Records Read carefully , Follow Instructions. Make sure you request All Records on the Form. Wally is a friend of mine. There are many sources out there - Mike

Your uncle made a belly landing near Sutton, England on 2 Sept 1943 when his P-47C 41-6357 had run out of gas. Regards, Leendert

I requested his records from NARA as suggested. I also contacted my cousin( Warren's daughter) and she said she has a trunk full of her Dad's "stuff and pictures" he brought back from England. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks a million.--Jim

OK, I've been working on this a while now and I'll tell you guys what I've found. Shooshoobaby--NARA doesn't have his records, they all burned. But his daughter (my cousin) did! Seems he just "forgot" to turn them in. I now have copies of his USAAF records as well as his mission chart, rosters and other documents from his time in the 84th FS. I also contacted Wally. From the Canadian Archives I got copies of his RCAF days. My cousin had always been told that they had all been destroyed. Typical...So my many thanks to all and if I can help you sometime let me know.--Jim Belair [image]local://15037/345F806C471F4D1D9EB50B2803698BF3.jpg[/image]
