Hi Stephanie,

Thank you for adopting the graves of our fallen men. My brother's grave in Ardennes has been adopted by Olivier Delmelle. I was privileged to meet him last year during our trip to Liege for the Memorial Day services. This year I received some pictures of the the gravesite and cemetery from Guy Robert, an email acquaintance. The kindness of the people of Belgium is much appreciated by my family and of all those who have loved ones buried on your soil. I only wish our own younger generations would learn to appreciate the freedom they enjoy because of the sacrifices made so long ago.

I found the following information about the two crews you are researching in Project Bits and Pieces.

42-97883 XR "Miss Lollipop" , piloted by 2Lt Edward P. Mckeague, failed to return due to flak and ditched in the English Channel. MACR 6521 is available free of charge by contacting Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL.
Crew list:
2Lt Edward P. McKeague (P) RTD
2Lt Frank A. Ritter (CP) KIA
2Lt Stelios M. Louros (N) KIA
T/Sgt Evan B. Peters (B) KIA
Sgt George H. Penman (TT) RTD
T/Sgt William H. Allen (RO) KIA
Sgt James L. Swafford (BT) KIA
S/Sgt Alred M. Hudnall (LW) KIA
S/Sgt Robert A. Gallagher (RW) RTD
Sgt Joseph S. Pellegrino (TG) KIA

43-38211 XR R, piloted by 2Lt Vermont O. Anderson, failed to return due to German fighters and crashed at Merseberg, Germany.

Crew list:
2Lt Vermont O. Anderson (P) KIA
2Lt William G. Sherling Jr (CP) POW
FO Norman Klasner (N) KIA
2Lt Herbert D. Olsen (B) POW
S/Sgt Dudley C. Runnels Jr (TT) POW
S/Sgt Stanley W. Labuz (RO) KIA
S/Sgt Nathan L. Sanderson (BT) KIA
S/Sgt Frank Lusenko (WG) KIA
S/Sgt Bert E. Lickliter (TG) KIA

Stephanie,

Project Bits and Pieces is a 4 volume work about the 8th Air Force. It does not give great detail about any particular plane or crew but is very helpful to researchers in many ways. I have sent you a PM also.
