Walter Baker was the pilot of 42-30274 when the plane was shot down on August 17, 1943. My father flew with the 447th Bomb Group but went to high school with a Walter Baker and recently asked if I could determine if the 95th's Walter Baker was his former High School classmate in Montesano, WA.

Project Bits and Pieces shows that Walter Baker was the pilot of 42-30274 when it went down on 17 Aug 1943 and became a POW, however there is no mention of his hometown. On the NARA POW database, he is shown to be from Washington. Maybe MACR 402 would give more definite information and you can get a copy by contacting Lynn.Gamma@MAXWELL.AF.MIL. There is no charge and it should verify if he is your father's classmate.

Just researched the crash of the 42-30274 "Our Bay Bee" on Aug.17-1943 over Mol -Desschel
I'm in contact with family of the captain of this ship, Walter Baker
