WWII, POW, Stalag XVII B, barracks 29A

I had so much luck earlier in the day getting info regarding the plane my father was in and the crew when he was shot down, I’ve come over to this section to see if anyone here has any info about his actual POW time. I’ve been asked to speak about his time as a POW during WWII this Friday, June 13th. My father Carl L. Potter was shot down on April 24, 1944. He ended up in Stalag XVII B, barracks 29A. We do have a copy of the book then Ben Phelper made, Kriegie Memories and that’s helped. If anyone is still with us from that barracks I’d appreciate hearing from you or from any family members of POWs from that Barracks. Many thanks for any help/guidance anyone can provide me with. Best regards, Jeanie

Jeannie, I am sorry I did not see this sooner. please go to www.pownews.com. This is a web page for Stalag 17B. We do have information concerning who is living etc. Due to confidentiality, i cannot give you names and telephone numbers; however, I can put a notice in the July newsletter that you are seeking information. I found you dads name listed in our "In Memory Of" ; what Bomb group was he in? One gentleman that was in 29A is an officer and attends our reunions yearly; he is fantastic. He does not have email but I am sure he will contact you after reading the newsletter. Tracey Jackson Stalag XVIIB newsletter editor

Thank you so much. I've already given the talk, but I'm trying to put together as much info as I can find to give to my oldest brother for his birthday this summer as he was alive when our dad was a POW. I can't tell you how much this means to me. He was in the 306th Bomb Group (H), 369th squadron, the Fightn’ Bitin’ and part of the crew for 2Lt David B. Ramsey in a B-17 #42-30730 named "Dearly Beloved" as one of two waist gunners. Jeanie
