There is a new website up for the Burma Banshees - 04/26/2006 09:16:29 PM
I am still tinkering with it, but , www.burmabanshees.com is up. I'm experimenting with the comment board but everything else is pretty much up. There are about 500 photographs of the Banshees in action. and i still have over a hundred more to add. I am still going through and trying to indentify who is in each photograph. That may take a while. Most of the comments are based on what was written on th photograph. For example, some of the  gun camera photos list a Zero being shot at, some expert web surfers are pointing out that they think it's an Oscar. I'm not sure how i want to handle that. I'm leaning towards leaving it as the way the person that saved the photgraph for all of these years wrote it. I'll see what you guys think.

Thanks

Robin

Robin:  Nice site so far!  I've added a link to your site in the 80th FG section of my site.

Ken:  Always looking for info as you know!  If you have any stuff I can add to my 459th section, you know where to find me!

Cheers!

Robin,

Great site! "Zero" was a general term as used by allied pilots in the theatre - and the use of the term to describe Army Oscar fighters was common, as they looked so much alike.

Hi Ken and Gary,

Ken, yes I would love to feature all of your 459th photos ( sorry don't mean to be greedy) and all of the  history you have. What i would like to do is create a gallery for you like I did with the others. I can frame them and run them past my father to see if he can identify anyone in them. I see you are interested in stories.  If you would like I can arrange for you to talk or interview dad. I have a DVD I can send you of a presentation we did at Pax River NAS. If you look on the video page you can get an idea of what we can do. Jim Busha did an excellent interview regarding the 89th. Dad knew Hampton Boggs ( 15 victories) and Leuhring fairly well. Maybe we can get him to talk about the 459th.  We might get lucky and see if he has any of his buddies in the 459th to let us interview him also.

Gary, thank you. Thanks for adding the link, I'll do the same. You have done an incredible job of researching and documenting everyone. You are welcome to anything i can find or put together.

One other note, my strenths are in graphics, especially editing photographs and making digital videos. I have figured out how to get this stuff on the web, but as you can tell by my message board. I'm not very strong in taking this web site to the next level. i also don't look at this as my website so if you guys want to be involved or help with this website, by all means let me know.

Thanks

I have been in contact with Vic Verdoa(sp) and i know of a Bill Behrns wing man for Maj Boggs.  Boggs is the guy i have researched the most i have followed this guy from his home state of Oklahoma to Wisconsin where he passed due to parachute failure.  I have most of the newspapers articles of this and also some other items.  I sending Vic some tapes so that he can talk about his times with the 459th.  If there could be a chance i would love to talk to your dad.  Im here in the Dayton OHio area.  And i can call or what ever.  I do not have a scanner and im trying to figure out how to get them copied to teh computer.  GARY is a great guy and can always help Hmmm gary you have a scanner????  If so i need to come over and we can talk

Hi Ken,

Sent you an email. Boggs and Leuhring were two of my favorites from the 459th.

Thanks
