Short Snorter

I recently had the good fortune and luck to have a short snorter pass my way and I am seeking information on the men that signed this one-dollar silver certificate.

Several are easily identifyable: Ira Eaker, C.L. Chenault, Casey Vincent, but the others are more ellusive.

One signature is dated 11 JUNE 1944 and another has PERSIA under it. This date would be in alignment with Eakers assignment to command all Allied Air Forces in the Mediteranian area.

Below is a complete list of signers. If anyone can provide any information on any of these individuals I would greatly appreciate it.

Harry B. B????????

T(possibly F) A(possibly H) Weston Lt, Col. Cav.

Meloy Douglas

Gerald J. Rock

T F Wessels, Brig Gen.

William M.(possibly N.) Creasy

Martin H (possibly N) Lenger

Casey Vincent

C. L. Chenault

Fred C. Thomson

W. H. Quarterman 11 June 44

Pat O’ Brien

Vincent C Nee????????????

Ira Eaker

Charles W. McGuire

Eddie Hillman

George ?. Hulka

Charles E. Bailey

Joe W. Etter, Capt.

John E. Nixon, Major

James H. Alewine(?), Jr. Capt.

Benjamin Wyatt

Major Roy (Ray?) N. Hall, Persia

F B Willy(?) Maj, Gen.

M.C. Taylor, Lt. Col.

S.C. Gorffey(?)

Thank you for taking time to review this. I look forward to any replies.

I had a short snorter with about 5 or 6 bills attached ( a bill for each country I was in). Mine only had signitures of junior officers and enlisted aquaintences.

    Jules Horowitz, B-17 pilot, 99th BG, 50 missions/sorties
    My tour was from 7/19/43-2/13/44

Traveller1861: Your short snorter must have been around some high power
I still have mine, but just signed by friends & aquaintances, & some I
am proud of, Yugo Partisans on Vis Island when we made an emergency
landing there (post Ploesti mission) in `44. Can`t read them, but who cares?

Mine is getting difficult to read also. I had a graphic design friend scan mine and remove the green from the scan and the signatures were much easier to distinguish.

Ones I can`t read are just not English language. I don`t know
what the partisans spoke. They showed us their cache of firearms,
ammo & flak suits whish had been picked up in the mountains & woods
that AAF airmen had no doubt thrown out when in trouble. This
gang was made up of both male & females in accordance with Tito`s
orders of "no differential in sex"for the duration. I wonder if there
    was 100% compliance!!!!!!

    Hi there
My father was a W H Quarterman - he always referred to himself that way although his name was William Henry (Bill).  He was an officer in the British Royal Air Force (not a pilot) and according to his war service records, it looks like he was posted to Nicosia in April 1944.
I am a keen genealogist and okay on geography but I am not too good on military history!  Would he be a likely candidate for your signature?
    Regards
    Janet - emailing from Australia
